Huang Ningkang

Huang Ningkang, also called Huang Zhenfu and Huang Yunchu , was born in Xiban Town, Yuechi County in 1905. As a smart young man, Mr. Huang was admitted with honors to Nanchong Middle school at 15 and later on admitted to Agricultural School,Sichuan University in 1927.

He took an active part in the progressive students rally in university. He also joined the progressive students association, Xiejin Association led by CPC and became the core member of the association. He was elected as representative to Chengdu Students Federation later on. Sichuan warlords suppressed the student movement in 1930, so Mr. Huang and the other representatives staged a protest against the reactionary authorities and he was detained. With the support of the students,he was released and went back to school. He joined the Communist Party of China in the autumn of 1930. After graduating from college in the autumn of 1932, he went to a primary school as a teacher in Laojun Town in order to work for the communist party secretly. He was arrested by the enemy in the same year and was released later on because the enemy had no sufficient evidence. Set free from prison, he reported at once what happened to him to Nanchong Central County Party Committee.

Mr. Huang was assigned to work in Yuechi County in November 1933 by the communist party organization and he took over the post of Secretary of Special Branch of Nanchong County Party Committee in Yuechi County.He was arrested again at the beginning of 1934 because a renegade sold him out and he was later bailed.Later on he lost contact with the party organizations at higher levels and his identity was given away, so he had to leave Yuechi County for Nanchong, Weiyuan, Wusheng, Santai, Suining etc.to promote agriculture agronomist as an agronomist. He went back to Yuechi County in 1947 and he was reinstated as a Party member by Cai Yiqu,a CPC leader in Yuechi. He was making preparations for the upcoming Huayingshan armed uprising while he did the united front work. He went regularly between Nanchong and Yuechi to mobilize the upper -middle -class people to do something for the uprising. He also sold his grain to raise funds and buy weapons for the uprising. He persuaded his wife and said to her,"I hope that you will read as many books as you can and devote yourself to the struggle against the enemy for the liberation of women and your future.”Huang Ningkang and Zhou Zhifan were arrested in Baimiao Street, Yuechi in August 1948. In custody in Yuechi , the enemy asked his wife to persuade him to surrender , but as soon as Mr. Huang met his wife , he said to her,“ Don’t be too sad. Please take good care of our two children. I know now that I have fallen into the enemy hands, but I am not afraid of death."

He was transferred to Zhazidong Prison on October.4, 1948. He and his revolutionary comrades continued their struggle against the enemy until the end of his life. He sacrificed his life at the age of 48 for the revolutionary cause on November 27,1948.
