Zhang Dacheng was born into an ordinary family in Deyuan Town, Pixian County on August 8, 1920. In October 1944 , he went to Agricultural School, Sichuan University and majored in Plant Diseases and Insects. One year later, he transferred to Department of Agronomy and devoted himself to the student patriotic movement. After graduating from university in the autumn of 1948, he went back to his hometown to teach school and to publicize revolutionary ideas. In May 1945, he joined the Communist Party of China and was soon assigned to teach in Pixian Middle school, following CPC instructions. On October 12, 1949, he was arrested and imprisoned by the Kuomintang. However, he remained faithful to the party and never betrayed the communist party even under torture in prison, so the communist party organizations along the Mingjiang River area were protected. On December 7, 1949, he and other comrades were killed by the Kuomingtang reactionaries in Shier Bridge in Chengdu , but his spirit will encourage us forever.
